Our community has been saddened by the passing on the weekend of Cricket ACT life member, John Gallop QC.
Among Mr Gallop's remarkable achievements saw him play in one of the early Prime Minister's XI matches in the 1960's and his consecutive term of 27 years as the Association President. Mr Gallop was a lifelong servant of the game in this region and was duly recognised when the First Grade one-day trophy was named in his honour.
A tribute is featured on the Cricket ACT website - cricketact.com.au
It is believed to be the first partnership of its kind in the ACT, Norths and Menslink have formed a partnership for this coming season. It is a non-monetary agreement but Menslink’s logo will appear on the back of our 1st grade T20 & One-Day shirt for the season.
Notification that the proposed changes to the constitution were accepted unanimously at the Annual General Meeting. These changes reduced the constitution from 71 pages down to 14 by removing a lot of club procedural information that was not required to be governed by a constitution. The other significant change is the removal of most designated committee positions that were previously required to be voted on at the AGM; from this year, the President, Secretary & Treasurer must still be elected but now the constitution has provision for the inclusion of up to 20 ordinary members. Specific tasks for the season will be decided at the first committee meeting.
